Precious Sterling Silver Vermeille English Bangle
Vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is high karat gold on top of a 925 sterling silver base. It’s a gold plating/filling technique, but where gold plated jewelry can use various base metals and has no minimum depth, vermeil jewelry always uses hypo-allergenic sterling silver as a base metal and is at least 2.5 microns thick.
Jewelry during this time often featured gemstones in hammer or so-called “gypsy” style settings. The gems were almost embedded into the pieces, with minute prongs holding them in place. With bold geometric patterns throughout and collet-set with a stunning rose-cut diamond, this bracelet example looks regal on the wrist and stands out in any collection.
