Outrageously Rare Pique Bracelet with 18ct and Sterling
A remarkable 19th century bracelet with a unique design! Crafted circa 1820, this bracelet is set in 18 carat gold and pique – an ultra rare medium for jewels.
Pique is a technique in which gold or silver is inlayed into another material, most commonly tortoiseshell, ivory, or mother of pearl. Pique is unique and beautiful because of its fragility; it is so delicate, that many adornments made with pique have disintegrated in the past two centuries. To bring a piece like this to market is a rare opportunity indeed!
This bracelet is simple but stunning- the black pique immediately catches the eye, and creates a perfect juxtaposition against the bright gold patterning. The design feels reminiscent of future Art Deco jewelry designs, with mystical eye-shaped gold motifs interlocking across the bracelet. Remarkable Victorian craftspersonship, with fine detail.
This original “Bridgerton era” piece is a remarkable example of a bangle that we rarely – if ever – see.
With all its unique features, this is truly a must-have treasure for any antique connoisseur’s collection!
