English Archaeological Revival Earrings Circa 1870
A stupendous pair of 1870’s Archaeological revival earrings with swirled boules in 12ct. Similar in construction to door knocker earrings, where the dropped portion of the earring swings enticingly from the tops via a hinge, this pair’s faceted drops swing from a quatrefoil top, making them astronomically enticing and more complex than the typical door knocker. Tipped by a shape I’d like to describe as a little tassel, the faceted rhombus cast details, embellished by five swirled boules reminds me of an ornate quilts or upholstery, embellished with embroidery and incredibly special.
