Wedding bangles have a long history – one would be presented with the first one on the day of engagement, and the second one on the day of marriage! Dating back to the 1860s, this pair carries lots of symbolism. Pansies, olive branches, greek key motifs, as well as the vine of life on the reverse, all represent love, protection, wisdom, peace, health, wealth… all that good stuff!
Both bangles have been bloomed, meaning dipped in acid to achieve a better color concentration. The ‘orientalist’ design, hand-done bamboo etching with sparrow in center, Greek key, and textured archeological and Greco-Roman revival elements make this pair as classic as can be. Truly museum quality.
